Welcome back to the Raising Elite Competitors podcast. I'm Coach Bre, a mental performance coach for girl athletes, and I'm so excited that you're here for today's episode. It's a special one, but it's for you if your athlete daughter is at all considering or wondering or hoping to play her sport in college. And if you're actually like, I'm not really sure, she's maybe on the young end. Still listen to this episode because this will give you the overall lay of the land of what you need to do when and how this whole process works. Because the common myth that gets thrown around and speaking from my experience as a head volleyball coach myself with a lot of athletes who are trying to get to the next level, is if you're good enough, they'll just find you. Just create this, uh, recruiting page on this platform, and coaches will just find you and reach out to you and email them maybe a couple of times and see what comes. But honestly, that advice is so. Wrong. Unless you're a five star recruit, then of course they're gonna find you. But for the majority of athletes, that's not the case. And the athletes actually need to have a lot of this process in their hands, but a lot of them have no idea where to start. So to help break this down, I am joined by David Hits. He is the COO of Athlete narrative, and we're gonna dive into where families should start, what actually matters to college coaches, and the most common mistakes that waste time, and how to make sure that your athlete stays in the driver's seat without putting more onto your plate. And some quick context before we jump in. We've actually partnered with Athlete Narrative because it makes this whole reach out to coaches piece, very simple and athlete led. We have partnered with them and their recruiting app to bring this app to our community at a heavily discounted price, and you're gonna learn all about it in today's episode, but it is the best solution that I have seen after being a head coach in the throes of this whole process for many, many years. To make it super simple on the athletes, it's a lot cheaper than all the platforms that are out there. It puts the, work in the athlete's hands in a very simple way, and you don't have to go through the middleman of some sort of like platform that's gonna cost you a lot of money and keep all your data and, and all those things. So we're breaking all of that down in today's episode. So you're gonna learn about the app. And the discount that we have for our community, which makes it$15 a month, which is super, super cheap. So in order to get that, the link is below in our show notes. So the$15. A month is the discount that you have. It's normally$20 a month, and you need to use our link in the show notes in order to get that discount. But it's only discounted through the end of November. So make sure you use that link in our show notes to try it out. I mean, like I said, I am all about this because there have been so many things that have come across my desk when it comes to recruiting. So many things that I've seen as I've helped athletes get to the next level on my own team and in our program. And this is something that is the real deal. It makes it very simple for athletes. So I'm excited for you to hear all about it in today's episode and also just get some general knowledge on. How we go about this whole recruiting thing and to, again, learn more about Athlete Narrative and the app. You can find that with the link in our show notes.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:All right. Hi David. Welcome to the Raising and Elite Competitors podcast.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Hey, thanks for having me.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:All right. We're gonna go into all things recruiting and how athletes can make sure that they're getting to where they wanna be after all this time and this effort that they're putting into their sport, and what parents can do to kind of help that process as well. But before we do, can you just introduce yourself and a little bit about what you do.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Absolutely. So my name's David Hits. I am the COO of Athlete narrative, and I am a mental performance coach, and so we work with athletes to help get them to the next level in a variety of capacities.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Okay, love it. So we have a lot of parents who listen to this podcast and have players who have expressed that they want to play at the next level. I like in our program, we ask athletes what their goals are, and I would say like nine times outta 10, they're like, I wanna play in college and. The reality is that that doesn't always pan out for a variety of reasons, but some of the reason is because they're so lost in the recruiting process and they have no idea what to do. The advice that, well, maybe not even advice, but I think like the belief that's kind of floating around is if you're good enough, college coaches are just gonna find you. Can you talk about why that's maybe not true and what we should be instead?
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah, so you're correct. It's not true. Unless you are a five star recruit, if you are really one of the top athletes in the country, you cannot hide under a rock and people will find you. And so that mentality of, you know, I, I think about the old movie Field of Dreams, and parents will be able to resonate with that. The kids will be, it'll go over their head, right? But that idea of if you build it, they will come and. That's part of the misinformation that's out there with recruiting in general is the mentality that if I create a profile and I'm simply living there in the interwebs, that magically this unicorn is gonna guide a coach along and say, here is this player. You need them. It just doesn't happen that way. And so while it is important to build a profile and that is part of our process really. It's a numbers game. You need to get yourself out there. You need to get in front of coaches and be okay. Being uncomfortable saying, Hey coach, here I am. Check me out. Right? Here's all of my hard work. Here is my profile. Sure, but gimme a look. Right? and really that's what it's about. And so that's what we've done is just make it really easy to get in front of coaches.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah, and I don't wanna like wait into too far into this episode to mention that we have a partnership that I'm super excited about. So. Parents are listening and you're like, okay, okay. Like, yeah, I need to help her along with that, like we have the solution for you. And having been a coach for a long time and seen a lot of athletes come through for the past 14 years in my program and use all the things and try and get all sorts of like wacky advice around this, like this is the easiest and most streamlined. Product that I've ever seen in this space. So I we're gonna get a chance to, to talk about it, but I wanna make sure that, that parents kinda have some context around this and also know that like we have a very simple solution for this, that I'm super pumped about. So, kind of going off that though, what's one of the biggest mistakes that you see families doing when they do start this recruiting jour journey? I mean, first of all, they'll just find me. Okay. But then when they're like, we should probably do something, what.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:so one of the first things that most people do in today's world for any. Question they have is they go to Google, right? And so they'll go to Google and be like, Hey, how do I get help? Get my kid recruited? And more often than not, the first things that pop up are gonna be paid ads. And those are gonna be from big companies like NCSA or Captain U. And those are gonna come with a, a big price tag. And one of the pieces of our own story that I think is important to understand is we've been through that as, as parents. We actually, part of our team. You know, one of our co-founders, he actually paid thousands of dollars to, to both of those organizations to try and help get his kid recruited and. Was seeing the results of that. And the, we'll call it the ROI, which was negative. I don't even know if it was as good as a zero, right? It was one of those where he came home and his son was doing the research to try and find these coaches, and he said, well, what are you doing? Well, this is what I'm doing because this is what the person told me to do. And he said, well, what am I paying them for then? Well, they're gonna help me write a template, put it together, right? And so one of the things that often happens is. Parents don't know where to start, so they just go to Google and then they kinda get sucked in because they don't know what to do. And what has been the recruiting process for decades is get yourself out there. Get in front of the coach. And so it started with letters, right? And then it was VHS, get your highlight tape, and then it was DVDs and now it's YouTube videos, right? Get yourself in front of the coaches. And so when we went around and asked coaches and recruiters, what do you wanna see? How do you want to see information from the athlete? Unequivocally said, I don't want another portal to log into. I want an email from the athlete to me pleading their case. And so whether you use our solution, which is very affordable and very easy to use, and all of the things, right? We wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't, but whether you use us or you do it on your own. It's, you do have to have a profile. You need to have highlight videos, and you need to get out there in front of the coaches using email. That's what they want.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Okay. I love that you distilled it down to that. Okay. So we gotta like, we gotta hit those things. And, i'm gonna have you do like a whole walkthrough of what the app is and all of that. But before I do that, how much of this should be in the athlete's hands and how much of it should be in the parents' hands?
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Good question. I'm a big fan of empowering athletes,
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Mm-hmm.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:and as we worked on building the app, one of the things that we, asked ourselves, and this was because, you know, part of our team has, teenage boys, and so I apologize if this comes across crass or rude, but we would simply ask ourselves, what would a dumb teenager do? Right? What would my dumb teenage boy do or not do? And so as we built it, it was, this has to be so easy that they're not gonna get frustrated and mad and just be like, ah, screw it. I'm done.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Mm-hmm.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Right? And that was one of the critical pieces for us. And so, that's where it's really just, I'm a big fan of empowering the athletes, the parents. Should be parents. They need to cheer and support and help. And so if they've got videos and things like that, yeah, totally help. Hey, mom, do you have that picture? Do you have this video when you know, I spiked it on that one tournament or whatever that is. Right? Parents help in that process and they can obviously encourage and help the kids, Hey, get your emails out there. But we have built the app in such a way to make it really easy and empowering for the athlete to take charge. Knock out hundreds of emails in just a couple hours.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah. Okay. That's amazing. I have had a full walkthrough on like. How it works. I set up my own fake profile and I was like, oh my gosh, this is so slick. So, can you just give us a walkthrough on what this solution is, what this app is, what it looks like, how athletes do it,
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Mm-hmm. Yeah, 100%. So the way that the overall process works is. Once you sign up, you create your radar page. Your radar page is like a profile and it's a combination of where you can put pictures, highlight video information about yourself, what motivates you, why you feel like you're ready to play at the next level. All of these things. I call it building the foundation, right? So you build this foundation with your radar page and it takes. Anywhere from five to 15 minutes, depending on how prepared you are and how in depth you want to go and all those things. And but that foundation, then you take it and you jump into the recruiter. And the recruiter is fantastic because it is as simple as choosing a division, choosing a state, selecting the school. Once you select the school you go in and we actually have a database that has all of these email addresses at all these divisions for all the major sports. So you literally click on to email that coach, and then we give you a little bit of direction. You know, do you want to have a call? Do you wanna see about an unofficial visit? What do you want out of this? And so you select that as the athlete it. And then our, our technology, our ai, we've named her Hope. She helps build the email for you specifically for that school. Pulls in elements from your radar page. Which is why it's so critical to build that foundation first and then gets it all ready. And then we do the unthinkable for every app, developer, builder, company, whatever. And we take you off of our own app,
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:right? Like we, in all the world of, of apps, it's like, okay, time on app, time on app. And for us it was what do the athletes need? What do the coaches want? And they wanted a personal email. So we said, okay, what is the next best thing for us to do? We put them in their personal email as a draft, and then what we do is we actually embed tracking for the links that are pulled in from your highlight, from like your radar page.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Mm-hmm.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:And so when you send that email, and again, this is in your draft, so you can tweak it and change it and then send it, when you send it, when the coach receives it and they start clicking on those links in that email, you can see that because we've embedded tracking in that.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:And that's literally as easy as it is to you. So that's, that's the whole thing. And then we, we give you reports and all that stuff, and we just make it really easy to keep things up to date and get in front of coaches.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah. And I, for parents that are maybe not familiar with like, how this would work if you weren't doing it this way, can you give a little, I mean, because I know as a coach, as an athlete, I'm like that, like just that process right. There probably would've taken, you know, like 45 minutes to like track down,
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yes. Yeah. So. You are 100% spot on. Historically coaches that care, and I'm not saying that there's coaches that don't care, but it's really coaches that are able to fit in the time and make the time to do something like this. They will help create templates and parents will do those too, right? They help create templates and get these emails all ready, and that might take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes for one email to make sure that you are set on what you want to say. Okay. From there, you're very dependent on your own network or your research abilities, and so you're having to look up all of the information and hoping that it's up to date for whatever school that you're looking at. And keep in mind, you still are only gonna probably know the schools that you're familiar with. The schools that you've heard that other players have gone to within your club, or you know, your parents' friends or your parents' alma mater or your coach's network. And so you're very limited of where you're actually looking and where you have hopes to go. And so that whole process, once you get, you know, your system dialed in, it's still gonna take you several minutes to 20 minutes probably per email. Doing the research, scanning it to the right person, hoping that that email is up to date, all of those things. Whereas for us, it takes you about 20 seconds per email, you know, and then onto the next one and onto the next one. And we update our database every 60 days because there's churn in the college world. And so we keep all of that up to date so you don't have to go do the guesswork and research and all that stuff. And so you're totally welcome to do it on your own. But go into it knowing that you will spend a lot of time for just one email.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah, and when I was using it, like the emails are not all the same too. So like hope, you know, customizes them, changes them. So it's not just the one template that's going out to, you know, 30 coaches is
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Correct. Yeah. Well, and the other thing too is this is an individual email from you to the coach. And so instead of, you know, going in some of these systems, you select a lot of schools at one time, and that seems really convenient, but one, it's not personalized. And two, you run the risk of actually damaging your email. Credibility run into what's called the CAN SPAM Act.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yes, and I don't think parents realize this, so I'm so glad you're talking about it. And the fact that you take them off app and put them into their native email service or Well, whatever they're using for email.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yes, whatever is default for their phone.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah, so it's literally coming from them. Plus you're getting the tracking back so you don't have to wonder like, did this land with them? Are they cooking on it? The other thing, so I know a lot of parents that are listening, are like, well, my daughter says she wants to like play D one, but realistically we've gotta keep her open to all the options and maybe she's not denied and it's hard to get her to look at the other options. So how does this app kind of help parents Actually with that a little bit.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:So one, we have all divisions for your sport, and so if you, you know, have a pipe dream of D one, good on you, go for it. But. You should also look at lower divisions and including junior college and look at what that path looks like. The other thing that is so different today than it was even five years ago is the transfer portal and how that all operates and how a lot of D ones are pulling players from there instead, because they want experienced athletes who have been in college. They know what they're in for, they know what to expect, and they know the work ethic that's required as a college athlete. And so. It's really smart to actually go through a junior college, get a good feel for everything, or even a lower division, right? Get a, get a solid feel, and then you can reach for that D one a little bit later when you're ready. Because again, that's where, those D ones are pulling from. Unless you're a five star, they're primarily looking at the portal. And I tell athletes this all the time. Would you rather go ride the bench right and be this tiny fish in a big pond, or be a big fish in a small pond and have the playing time and get in those reps and get used to that feel?
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah, I think that's so important to hear over and over. And plus now that this makes it so much faster to like email coaches and, and get your stuff out. You're not spending your athletes time like, okay, I found all the D one schools and that took, you know, 18 hours. And so this is like, yeah, send it all the D ones, app now, D twos, D threes, do code. Get it all out and see who's responding, see who's clicking on your stuff.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah, 100%. And that's what's really cool for us is. You know, going back to, our co-founder son, he went from zero options, zero opportunities back in the beginning of March. And as we record this right now, we're at the very beginning of November. Okay. For anybody that's listen to it later and, and so. He went from no options within the first month. He got 120 ish emails out there. And, and that wasn't even, that only took him like an hour, hour and a half. Like he did not put a lot of time into it. Again, dumb teenage boy, right? Not that he's cognitively dumb, he just, he's a teenage boy. He's busy, he's playing sports, he's in school, all those things, right? And so. Puts the time in by the time summer hits. So two and a half months later, he's got 10 different replies and he is got a few invites for camps in the summer, goes to some of the camps, keeps getting emails out. Now, about a month and a half ago, he got his first offer
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Oh, wow.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:and he is got another one coming in two weeks. He's going to that school for a visit to play with him, and check things out. And so he's gone from no opportunities to. He's got an offer and he wants, and if he wants it, it's a great one. And, and so for us, there's a lot of other success stories, but that one of course, is near and dear to us because we've seen his growth. We've, we've known him for these years and seen that trajectory and how frustrating it was to go into his junior year. Towards the end of it with nothing. It was just like, am I not good enough? Right. That's part of why we've named our AI Hope, because it really does give you hope to be able to keep playing the sport that you love.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Mm-hmm. Yeah. I love that. I love that you shared that too, because just opening up all of those opportunities, I, even as, as a coach, like, I don't know all of the schools. I mean, did the offer that he got, was that from a school that he had previously known about?
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:No. So it, that's actually where it gets even more fun is one of the schools that he emailed reached out to that coach and said, Hey, this kid is solid and he is freaking fast. I have no spots for him. Check him out. And then that's how that happened is, and then he reached out and he said, you actually don't know me. But I heard from you from this other coach that you had emailed
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Oh wow.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:And I happened to know your high school coach and reached out to him as well. Right? It can be a very small world sometimes, and so that's where putting in those reps makes all the difference because you really don't know what's gonna happen from there. And so coaches talk all the time, and especially if you are good and you've got this little network, it can be really fun and exciting. So that's actually how that happened.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah. Oh, that's so cool. Okay. So, I mean, I hope parents are kind of seeing that this is, like, this revolutionizes really like this whole recruiting landscape and just makes it, it puts it in the hands of the athlete in a really easy way. One question that I have about just the age of the athlete, so obviously it varies from sport and the, the sport I coach is volleyball. So, you know, June 15th after their sophomore year, they're recruitable. So what do these kids do before that time if they're using the app?
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah, so that's where this is really nice is even if the coach can't, per the guidelines reach out to you and give you an offer or anything, there's nothing that says you can't reach out to them and get on their radar. And so this is where it gets really nice is get on the app, build your radar page, build that foundation, and you can start putting feelers out there. and be a little bit more deliberate in that.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Mm-hmm.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:And so there's nothing that prohibits you from putting yourself out there. And obviously, you know, if you are an eighth grader you can, but it's, it probably won't do a lot of good. Right. And in that case, stay on the free version of the app. And which is there is gonna be that option in about a month or so, for everyone to have a radar page, get on there, get a feel for it, so that when the time comes and you're ready, you're all prepared. And, but normally we're seeing, some freshmen, but typically sophomores. And, and especially sophomores for girls and then moving up through sophomore into junior for boys. Historically, girls get recruited a bit earlier in almost all sports, and so we do see advantages to starting a little bit earlier, kind of that sophomore end of freshman, depending on your level and how you play.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Mm-hmm. Okay.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:what's really cool is. You can use this to get from high school to college, but you can also use this to go again from junior division, lower division to upper division.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Oh
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:And so this isn't like a, okay, I'm done and I'm out. You can keep using this, for as long as you need to.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah. Okay. Awesome. Another feature that I, I think we said it, but I, I think it's worth repeating, is that like with all some of these other. Platforms, everything stays within the platform, like we said. So if you are done with it, then you take all those emails and everything with it. This is really cool. So like, you know, you keep your communications with all these college coaches.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah. It's your email.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. So worth noting. I, I don't think I would've maybe realized that that's important before kind of looking at, at all of this. So,
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Well, and parents will understand that, you know, if you are at a job and you've got all these relationships and whatever. If you get fired tomorrow and you get cut off from all of that access there goes your Rolodex, unless you've been smart about it and made connections outside of that. Right? And it, that's how it works with a lot of these other companies is they kind of hold you hostage. And so for us, we didn't like that. It kind of felt icky and, and so we didn't wanna do that. The other thing too is when you cancel, if you cancel. know, keep it as long as you can. But, if you cancel, we still allow you to keep your radar page
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Oh wow. That's awesome.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:and so you can continue to keep that up to date. And then if you want to turn things back on later, you could, or however you wanna play that, but, you know, there's no reason why you couldn't keep something like that up to date and continue to use it for your variety of purposes.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah. Very cool. Okay. Well, the question that every parent has right now is, well, I'm ready to pay. How much does this cost? How much is this gonna cost me? So we surprise everybody, right?
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah. So right now, and this is gonna be different in about a month because we are doing some, some really cool updates. So right now, if you purchase it through me, it's$20 a month. If you purchase it through you, a lead competitor, it's$15 a month. So in about a month that's gonna go up from 15 to$20 a month. Still very affordable, but the price won't come back down. And so now is really a great time to take advantage of that, to get in while you can at that kind of the price that we have and, be able to grow and do everything you need to from now.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Okay. That's amazing because I, I have parents that are like this platform is like$700 for the basic version. Should I just go for it? And I'm like, oh gosh. I dunno.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah. Yeah.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:We, it's been really fun getting to know people in this space. For us, one of the reasons that we partner with organizations like you is we genuinely care about the athletes and so as we've gotten to know these different. People throughout this journey. For us, as corny as it sounds, it's very fulfilling to align with people that actually care. And that's one of the reasons why we came to you and we said, Hey, would you be interested in helping your athletes a little bit more? Because clearly our missions align in helping these kids continue to play at the level they wanna play at.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah, I couldn't agree more because, and we also, I mean, these athletes in our world are putting in so much physical work. They're obviously working on their mental game. They're doing all this. They deserve to get what they, what they want, you know, at the next level. And so this just helps them be able to do that
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah. And it shouldn't take, a ton of time away from that, right? That's where this is very complimentary because they are putting a lot of work. It is hard to be a student athlete in today's world. It's very demanding and you are trying to stay on top of your grades and your physical abilities and all these other things. And so we kept that in mind as we were building all of this because it had to be simple and had to be very easy to use and it couldn't take up a lot of time.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Well, I mean, you gave one case study, you know, um, one hour, 120 emails. Do anything else like, just to help kind of get parents' heads a picture in their mind of like how simple this can be.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah. So generally speaking, for every, I think the average is about 31 to 37 emails that you get out there. You can expect one to two responses and.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:know.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Right. So what was cool is as, Trey, the son, he started to gain this traction. One of his buddies took notice, Hey, what are you doing, right? Like, you're telling me that you're getting these responses? What are you doing? Well, I'm using this app, and blah, blah, blah. So his friend jumped on and he quickly got out like 350 emails in the first couple of weeks and just cruising through and. Very similar, right? Getting responses. Responses. Hey, let me see more, send me more information. What about a camp? All these things. And, and then fast forward to about two weeks ago, and he actually committed to this school out in California, to Biola.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Oh my
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:And so, I think his grand total so far is. I wanna say it's like close to 700 emails. Um, but he didn't spend tons and tons and tons of time because, you know, if you just really sit down and you stay consistent with it and you are knocking out emails, you know a few every day, consistency pays off. It's a compounding effect.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Yeah. Okay. I love that it's like a numbers game, like you said at the beginning. Because also what I see a lot of times is athletes are like, okay, I'm gonna send this coach an email, and they, you know, take forever to send it, send it off, and then they're checking their inbox or response response and then they're like, oh, well, once I get a response from that coach, then I'm, and it's like, this is not gonna work out. So just.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Out. Out and see what you get back.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah, 100%. It's like dating.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:cool. Yeah. Yeah, pretty much that's the, the image that came to my mind too. Alright, well I will leave the link in the show notes for our audience to get that$15 a month deal on the app and that goes up that month, so in December I assume. So yeah, definitely parents, if your athlete is on the recruiting journey, you're thinking about it. This is definitely worth. Signing up for just to get, get their radar going, and then start putting the ownership in their
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:Yeah, 100%. So yeah, obviously you're gonna give the link, and then you can always check us out on Instagram Athlete narrative is our handle and we've got stories. We, you can see other organizations that we partner with, that we all are aligned in the same effort of. Helping these kids and genuinely caring. Right? Again, that really matters in today's world at least for us.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-Coach_Bre-webcam-00h_00m_00s_321ms-StreamYard:Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. I was for just, like the functionality of it, but also the price. It was like, oh yeah, this is a no brainer. So thank you so.
Bre___Athlete_Narrative-David_H-webcam-00h_00m_00s_104ms-StreamYard:no, thank you.
